Senway 1 first-time setup

Set up Senway 1 while your vehicle is parked. Follow the steps below in order; you should finish with your chosen media app open and connected to your library. The first start can take longer than a normal start.

Before you start

  • Have Senway 1, the supplied USB cable that fits your vehicle, and the included remote ready.
  • Confirm that your vehicle and connection method are compatible. If you are unsure, check compatibility before connecting.
  • Have a Wi-Fi or phone-hotspot password ready if you plan to connect now. You can skip Wi-Fi during onboarding and add it later.
  • Have access to the Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby library you already use. Senway 1 does not include a media library or a subscription to those services.

Safety first: Complete setup while parked. Video and other distracting functions should only be used when safe and lawful; the driver must keep attention on the road.

1. Connect Senway 1 to your factory screen

  1. Park safely, start the vehicle, and let the factory screen finish starting.
  2. Disconnect a phone or other adapter currently using the vehicle's CarPlay or Android Auto connection.
  3. For wired CarPlay or wired Android Auto: connect Senway 1 with the supplied cable to the same data-capable USB port normally used for phone projection. A port that only charges a phone will not work.
  4. For wireless CarPlay: use the approved power connection for your setup, then follow the vehicle's device-pairing prompt.
  5. Leave Senway 1 connected while it starts. Your vehicle may ask you to select or approve a new phone, projection, CarPlay, Android Auto, or Bluetooth device. The wording varies by vehicle.

The first start may take approximately 3–5 minutes. Do not unplug Senway 1 or turn off the vehicle during this period. If nothing appears, use the factory-screen connection guide before moving on.

2. Pair the included remote

On the first onboarding screen, Connect your remote, press and hold Home + Return together as shown on the display. Wait for pairing to complete, then choose Continue. The on-screen picture highlights both buttons.

You can choose Skip for now — pair later if you are using a touchscreen, but pair the remote now if your factory screen is not touch-enabled. If pairing fails or buttons do not respond, see Pair or reconnect the Senway remote.

3. Choose your media service and app

At Which media service do you use?, select the library you already run: Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby. You can change this later in Settings.

The next screen asks you to choose an app for that service. Select one that matches how you control your vehicle screen:

  • Plex: Plezy is the recommended choice for touch or remote control. The Plex app is a touch-control alternative.
  • Jellyfin: Plezy is the recommended choice for touch or remote control. Findroid is a touch-control alternative; Wholphin is a remote-control alternative.
  • Emby: Emby supports touch or remote control. Yamby is a touch-control alternative.

Leave Open this app at startup off if you want Senway Home to appear each time. Turn it on only if you prefer to go straight to the selected app. Choose Continue.

Important: If you intend to use Plezy with a remote, you must go into Plezy → Settings → General → "Force TV Mode" to ON.

4. Connect to Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot

On Connect to Wi-Fi, choose your own network, enter its password, and wait for the connection to complete. If you are using a phone hotspot, turn the hotspot on first and keep the phone nearby.

Choose Skip for now — connect later in Settings if you do not have internet available. You will need a working connection before an app can reach a remote library or receive updates. For more options and troubleshooting, see Connect Senway 1 to Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot.

5. Open your library and check the controls

  1. Open the media app you selected and follow its sign-in or server-connection instructions for your existing library.
  2. Open a title you have the rights to use and confirm that it loads and plays while the vehicle is parked.
  3. Check that the remote's directional pad, select, Return, and Home buttons respond, or test the touchscreen if that is how you plan to control playback.

Senway 1 provides access to your own media setup; it does not host, copy, or supply the content in your library. If your app cannot find your server, confirm that Senway 1 is online before changing app settings.

If you get stuck

  • Nothing appears on the factory screen: verify the compatible connection method, try the vehicle's data-capable port, and follow the screen-connection guide.
  • Senway 1 restarts or will not finish starting: the vehicle USB port may not supply enough power. Follow the power checks in the screen-connection guide, including the supplied Y-power cable where needed.
  • The remote does not pair or respond: follow the remote pairing guide.
  • Your app cannot reach your library: first check Wi-Fi or hotspot connection, then confirm your media server or account is available.
