Use this guide when Senway 1 opens a Jellyfin-compatible player but cannot reach your server, sign in, or play a title. Senway 1 is the player in your vehicle; your Jellyfin Server and media library remain on the computer or storage system you manage.
Before troubleshooting: Park safely, connect Senway 1 to the internet, and note which compatible Jellyfin player you selected: Plezy, Findroid and Wholphin. . If someone else manages your Jellyfin Server, they may need to perform the server checks below.
Start with these quick checks
- Confirm Senway 1 is online. Open Settings → Connections → Wi-FI and verify that the network shows as connected.
- Close and reopen the Jellyfin player. If the problem remains, restart Senway 1 after playback has stopped.
- Check whether the same library works from another device on the same network as Senway 1.
- Write down the exact message shown on Senway 1 and whether the issue affects every title or only one.
The Jellyfin server cannot be reached
When Senway 1 is in a vehicle or connected through a phone hotspot, it is usually outside the home network where Jellyfin Server is running. A local-only server address that works at home may not work from the vehicle. The server owner must set up and maintain a secure remote connection before an off-site player can reach the server.
- Ask the server owner to confirm that Jellyfin Server is powered on and running.
- Ask whether the server has secure remote access configured and whether the Jellyfin user account is allowed to connect remotely.
- If the server owner has a secure server address, test it from a phone with Wi-Fi turned off. If it works only while the phone is on home Wi-Fi, remote access is not ready for Senway 1.
- In the Jellyfin player on Senway 1, use Profiles → Add Connection and enter the server address supplied by the server owner, including the default port
:8096. - Enter the Jellyfin username and password for the account on that server. These are managed by the server owner and may differ from other media-service accounts.
For security, do not expose a Jellyfin server directly to the public internet by opening router ports unless the server owner understands and has deliberately chosen that setup. Jellyfin's documentation recommends reviewing its secure networking options; see Jellyfin networking and Jellyfin troubleshooting.
The server connects, but the library or sign-in does not work
- Check that the server address is entered exactly as provided by the server owner. A typo, outdated address, or missing custom path can prevent connection.
- Confirm that the account exists on this Jellyfin Server and that the server owner has granted it access to the relevant library.
- Ask the server owner to check whether the server is available from another device outside the home network.
- If the server address or certificate has recently changed, ask the server owner to verify the secure connection settings before trying again.
A title starts, buffers, or shows a playback error
- Try another title, then try the affected title on another device using the same connection.
- Try again with subtitles off and with a different audio track, if available.
- If playback buffers, ask the server owner to check the server's upload capacity and playback or transcoding status.
- Record the title, approximate time of the issue, selected player, and exact error message. Do not change server transcoding or security settings unless you manage the server.
What to send Senway Support
Include your Senway 1 software version, the Jellyfin player name and version if visible, your connection type, the exact error, and whether the same server works from a phone with Wi-Fi turned off. You may attach a screenshot after hiding usernames, server addresses, library names, and other private details.
Never send your Jellyfin password, private server address, access token, or unredacted server logs. For Senway Wi-Fi or hotspot problems, see the Wi-Fi and hotspot guide. For app updates, see the Senway Store guide.
